Hi! I decided to dive in a bit further and start giving behind the scene info on my book, Meeting Egypt: The Echinda Trilogy, so buckle in.
This story is an intricate and complicated love story because who doesn't love romance. I believe it differs from other stories because it involves characters that are usually not portrayed as ideal. Poc characters are so poorly portrayed in any type of fantasy or Sci fi work, that my dream goal was to create more diversity. Every character I write, I learn more of their culture, history and traditions which makes writing so much fun.
Egyptian mythology is still so new to me, so I had to erase any bias within me and learn anew of what I thought Egypt was. I learned many cities inside of the beautiful country and the history so that my story was believable and relatable. I hope it portrayed correctly.
Now onto Camille, an American teenager with Egyptian ties. The first few chapters you paint this picture of our main character: she's rich, she's rude and she's selfish.
Typical, right? You probably can't stand her and are ready for her demise, I tend to make my protagonist an antagonist to stir emotions. Then something changes; she melts within the next few chapters as you learn of her past.
She's lost very close people to her and she's just a scared girl amongst monsters.
She's had to grow up and alone due to her mom's passing and hasn't learn what love means until she does so in Egypt.
I created Camille to remind you of your first love; of how intense it was and how true it felt in those moments. Where nothing could persuade you to stop even if you wanted to, because who knew you could feel that way.
That although it may have been fleeting and toxic, it was more than you'd ever felt in your first few years of life.
Camille translates as innocence to me. She stands for all of the firsts in life.
She is all of us at one point in time, if you've read my book, do you agree?
I'll post more later about the other characters!
