**TRIGGER WARNING**
*THIS POST INCLUDES SUICIDE! FOLLOW W CAUTION!*
2019 was the last year of normalcy; family functions, aware ceremonies and school activities.
2020 hit us and we've dealt with a pandemic for almost two years if continued in 2022. This virus has killed thousands, in U.S., and more world wide, and has affected us all tremendously.
Traveling, once banned, now limited; masks mandatory in private or enclosed areas and hugs are a big no. It hits us differently especially in the South, where if you don't greet friends/family with a hug or kiss, you're being disrespectful. It's also highly politicized; creating a rift between those who are for or against the vaccination. Almost completely disregarding the fact that we are lost due to this virus, that our true enemy is this pandemic.
We tend to forget those affected not only physically, but mentally or emotionally by the isolation due to quarantine. Suicide rates have increased, especially for between the ages 12-17 up by 31% since 2019. You find videos of family members mourning the lost of such youth because they don't understand or they're hurting so much. Children don't understand why the world has seemingly stopped and they can't really cope or comprehend those dangerous actions nor the consequences that follow them. For immediate release of pain, they choose to follow the path of fatality.
Suicide is dear to me, I've lost someone I once knew and befriended to suicide. The pain nags at you constantly. I've watched films and I even wrote a book about it and how it affects us differently and similarly.
While we continue to endure these changes Covid has forced on us, remember to be kind, understanding and find strength in the things or people you adore. We all need compassion, always.
I will be returning to my book for next post, but if you liked this topic let me know. I can do another! xo 💜
